Evolution of Devices

The early cell phones had keypads and a small screen.  When the iPhone came out it had a larger screen which could
sometimes have a touch keypad.  Since the keypad is not always needed, this provided a larger screen for display.

The iPhone got its name because it was connected to the Internet via the phone signal as well as via WiFi.  In addition,
Apple Computer offered the opportunity for independent developers to write apps for the iPhone.

As of October 2017, the estimates were that there are 12 million mobile app developers worldwide, representing more
than half of the total global developer community, and almost half focus their attention on Google Android. The total
number of developers is expected to reach 14 million by 2020.

When AMZN came out with their Echo device, they gave independent entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop
software by offering a Software Development Kit (SDK).
